Third Trimester - Begins Today

Today I am 28 weeks pregnant, which means we have entered the third trimester.  I may be taking more days off, but I will keep going the best I can.  I just seem to need more rest, more water and more patience with myself these days.  And so that is what I'll be giving myself as the weeks go by.  In case you have never had a baby - or it's been awhile - I'll share a few things about me and my body. I have approximately 2¼ pounds of babé inside but guess what else I am carrying on top of just her... about 14 extra pounds of:

• placenta (2 pounds)
• amniotic fluid (2 pounds)
• extra breast tissue (2 pounds)
• extra blood (4 pounds)
• extra fluid (4 pounds)

Whew, that is more than 15 extra pounds... and as she continues to grow (probably another 5¾ pounds based on my other kiddos) which will put me at about 20 extra pounds - give or take a little.  I am guessing that is why I am having trouble getting around as well these days.  Not that I wasn't packing an extra 20 before this pregnancy (which is a whole other problem, but I digress). Whew!  Twelve more weeks to go before I can be 20 pounds lighter and have the sweet babé watching me cover miles instead of being such a intimate part of the process. So, in honor of reaching the third trimester... me and the babé walked another 3 miles just now.  It took an hour, but we did it.  Hope you all are having a great weekend.  Hugs to all my readers!
